An opportunity like this doesn’t come around often…

San Francisco’s only marching band that matters is looking for “flag team” members. You don’t need to play a tuba, or memorize complex musical charts… you just need to move & groove with some distinctly discernible enthusiasm…

The pay is apparently low to non-existent, but according to their fearless leaders:

“rewards are vastly beyond logic and defy description“

Extra Action Marching Band

That clip above was edited of San Francisco’s Extra Action Marching Band seen parading in the Mission at the SF Bay Guardian Street Fair in this two camera shoot I did with my pal Fatty from 2001. They have really been doing this silly shtick for quite awhile and have built up a fearsome reputation as ribald revelry experts…

Extra Action Flag Team will be holding auditions for new members.

Here’s their own spiel:

We are looking for people with strong dance and performance backgrounds
who are uninhibited in expressing themselves through their bodies.
Men are strongly encouraged! We are also looking for people who can
communicate well, are solid in their commitments, and enjoy working in
a group. If you are interested please send your responses to the
following questions to:

Why do you want to be on the flag team?
Why do you want to be in the Extra Action Marching Band?
What is your dance and performance background?
How many hours per week can you easily (without putting a strain on
the rest of your life) commit to this project?
Are you available to go on a one month long tour each summer or are
you only available for local shows?

Members of Extra Action are unpaid with the exception of per diems on
tour, however the rewards are vastly beyond logic and defy
description.
