Get Your (Solo) Valentine On

Regardless of what you may think of it, Valentine’s Day is almost upon us, bringing with it a passel of observances for singles and couples alike. These events are aimed mostly at the former group, but I imagine most of them wouldn’t kick you out if you brought a sweetie. Who knows, with some of them, you might even leave with one.

The first event is actually on the 9th (this Friday). One Taste is holding a party and dinner they simply call Red. I’ve spent some time with One Taste–they’re a great crew and put on some first-rate events. Last year’s party was lots of fun, and this should be the same.

Second up, Pillow Fight Club on the 14th! This is apparently turning into an annual tradition. We covered last year’s here. You can also see my pictures of the last one. This time, I will remember to take off my glasses before entering the fray.

I looked up Valentine’s Day on the ever-reliable Squid List and found myself a bit spoiled for choice–there’s some great stuff out there, and I’m just scratching the surface.

I’ve blogged about the Be Nice Party before, but it looks like they’re doing something new with it next week: holding the Be Nice Party Anti-Valentine’s Day Special. They’re going to segue from the chill, ambient Be Nice vibe to a dance party between 10:30 and 11, with music continuing until 2 AM.

Finally, this just sounded too cool to pass up: the St. Valentine’s Day Single’s Appreciation Party Bus Throwdown. (Long names seem to be a thing here; no idea why.) They’ve hired The Mexican Bus, lined up admissions and specials at a bunch of clubs, and generally seem to be almost destined to have an awesome time.

Whew! What are you planning on doing on the 14th?

So many choices- it may be more fun to be single than dealing with having to find gifts and sit in some restaurant full of couples forced to be out. By the way did you catch the segment on channel 4 last night on SF wealthy singles ‘maps’? Pretty amusing…
