Such an SV moment
Last night I had such an “I am Silicon Valley geek” moment: Some friends who had moved to Germany were back visiting and we drove up to SF to see Ferry Corsten at Ruby Skye. Right at midnight, as we were waiting for Ferry and dancing to the warm-up DJ, my phone vibrates in my pocket. I was a bit confused at first when I looked at my phone, probably because of the martini I had just finished, but I realized that it was an alarm that I had set years ago. All it said was the name of my company. It hits me. I turn to my friends, jump up and down, and shout over the music: “I’m vested!”
I was so there too. But I was kind of bored most of the time. I should have gone to Dream Away with Nicholas Bennision instead.
Hilarious! Stock options? such a foreign concept to a freelancer…. (along with benefits and paid-time off!)
Hee!
I can’t believe you actually felt your phone vibrate in there (the bass in the soundsystem is enough to make your heart skip). You must have super-vibrate. Oh, and Corsten was good, I caught the last part of his set.
All depends upon where you PUT that vibrating phone, Robin… [wink]
One advantage of working for a big old company: pension.
