PARK(ing) outside RitRo

I stopped by RitRo for a cuppa coffee this afternoon and saw the PARK(ing) Day setup there. (Nancy posted about this earlier today.) Pretty cool stuff. There’s more at Laughing Squid and BoingBoing, and after the jump. Also: the Ritual Coffee Club Bike Posse.

No idea what the Bike Posse’s about, but I’d love to see pictures. Fun!

Beautiful! So far, the Hanging Garden has moved 4+ times, in order not to violate the 30-minute limit at the metered spaces on Mission St (and YES, SFPD stopped by and checked that the park wasn’t meter-squatting!) We didn’t have sod (or heavy planters, as shown at RitRo’s PARK) so moving was a coordinated effort, but not impossible. My boyfriend and I took our lunch in the PARK, and many, many people stopped by, took pictures, and generally provided a fantastic level of support.

It has been great exposure for a growing philosophy about how we as a community choose to utilize the spaces we inhabit, and a great experience, overall. I hope the other PARK teams have had similarly supportive experiences!

I saw this today at lunch (around 1pm) on 2nd St. right before Folsom. Awesome.

I love the idea of this.

But why do fools have to call the place “RitRo”? Ugh. It’s such a lame-ass nick name. It’s sounds like Astro the dog from The Jetsons is asking for a decaf soy latte.

Yeah, I agree, Bradley. I plead hurriedness and being overwhelemed by hipsters. :-)
