Independent Journalist Josh Wolf on Democracy Now

I would have no “morning news” at all if it weren’t for podcasts, and one in particular makes me freak in my Mighty tea just about every damn weekday: Democracy Now!, hosted by the indomitable Amy Goodman. Democracy Now! took its indie-media loving, government and corporate whistleblowing show on the road this month, stopping off in Oakland last night on its Breaking the Sound Barrier Tour. So of course it’s perfectly fitting that local videoblogger and independent journalist Josh Wolf appeared on today’s show, broadcasting from San Francisco.

We’ve been following Josh’s story here, from his jailing in August for refusing to hand over a video he shot of a protest to the Federal government, to earlier this week, when he lost his appeal and may be headed back to prison, if, as he writes on his blog, his bail is revoked.

The full show, video and audio, is up at Democracy Now!.

I’ve got nothing but a big truckload of respect for Amy Goodman and Democracy Now! I’m sorry I missed her road show last night.

And it’s a damn shame what they’re doing to Wolf. I hope he never hands over that footage.
