The history of San Francisco’s official song

Mark Steyn explains the politics behind San Francisco’s official songs. “I left my Heart in San Francisco” reigned as official song from 1969 until the late 80s, when the earthquake-commemorating “San Francisco” became official song, leaving “I left my heart…” as official ballad.

    Listening to the live coverage of the Lotta ceremony, I wonder why they don’t change it back.

    It didn’t sound like anyone was really singing along. . . .

    Trumpet was good.
