Spring (Training Camp) is in the Air

San Jose A’s– Just a dream?

Image Hosted by ImageShack.usSpring training has begun and that means opening day is just around the corner. For those of us in the south bay (San Jose) wouldn’t it be nice if the ballpark was just around that corner too?

San Jose is the third largest city in California. The home page proclaims San Jose has been confirmed as the safest big city in the nation; for the fifth consecutive year.

*The SAP Open, second-oldest tennis tournament in the United States, is held annually in San Jose.

*A world class Champ car race, the San Jose Grand Prix, seems to be gaining speed and is promising to work out the bumps of last year.

*The first ever Tour de California bicycle race elected to spend two days of their journey here.

*The Sharks have a loyal fan base.

So, why doesn’t San Jose have a Major League Baseball Team?

Three reasons:

*The San Francisco Giants seem to be afraid of the competition. (Money)

*Some residents of San Jose can’t get over their fear of some seasonal noise and bright lights. People living within a mile radius, of the park, could be eligible for discounted tickets and then see how much the noise bothers them. (Money)

*Money.(Tax)

I predict a ballpark will be built. The A’s will catch on that they are not respected in Oakland, get realistic, and make the move.
