Things That Are Creepy For $5, Alex

So, question: Chapel of the Avenues – gone? Or just decided to put that signage to better use when there’s no one, uh, taking up space that day?

This 9th Avenue funeral home is nicely maintained and has always managed to fade into the surroundings so that I’m normally only semi-conscious of its presence. But in one of those “find what’s different” moments, I noticed last week the huge PUBLIC PARKING sign in gaudy red lettering. Didn’t that sign say Chapel of the Avenues before? There was always a sign on the parking lot gate that switched from “publich parking” to “funeral parking” tomorrow, depending on which group dying to get in had actually, you know, like, died to get in.

So what gives? And, really, ick.
