The tour itself was fairly lackluster, we didn’t get to see the Giants’ clubhouse, it took longer than they had initially said, but our group was large, and slow, and so that’s part of the issue that we had. The day was beautiful, and the weather for my trip couldn’t have been more perfect.

We’re a few days from spring training games, and all that is right is returning to the world again.

This morning, as I walked down Linden Alley, there’s a car shop right before you get to Blue Bottle Coffee, who marks their Smog Check Entrance in Blue Spraypaint in a former tagger’s hand on a blank metal sign bolted to the cement wall.

In DC? Graffiti. In San Francisco? Signage. Even better.

As we debarked the F Castro muni car, and shlepped our stuff across Market St toward the Swedish American Hall, I was comfortable in what I had seen so far. I’m a cosmopolitan guy, a tolerant guy, an enlightened-modern-renaissance-guy. But I was completely and totally unprepared to see the four older men (50s, easy, for a few of them) who were wearing ass-less chaps and butt-floss. I mean, I’ve seen a lot of things. I’ve wandered DC during Mid-Atlantic Leather Weekend, but I was just totally unprepared.

I’ll save your eyes and not post the picture I wanted to take.

I think I’ve found my weird limit, and that’s it.

After Jacob’s presentation at Webzine, several of us felt the need to talk a walk and mark the presentation, so we headed over to Sparky’s Diner on Church St. near the Swedish American Hall, and we enjoyed a tasty burger. However, while waiting to get in, I noticed this lovely sticker. Can someone explain to me why condoms are being distributed at a restaurant? Drug store? Sure. Hardware store? Sweet. Shoe Store? Well, that’s pushing it. But a restaurant? I don’t get that. But hey, I live in DC, what the heck do I know?

This morning, we wandered down the Embarcadero after debarking the bus that brought us over from the Emeryville train station. We walked into the market building there and wandered through the restaurants and food vendors agog at the market stalls with beautiful produce and goods for sale. However, what was fantastic was the amazing egg and cheese sandwich on toasted bread. Of course, watching Jacob speak at webzine, while writing about having a good egg sandwich is just about the biggest conflict of rational thought that I can generate, so I think I’m just going to leave you with the pretty picture here.
