Tiger beat: polar bear, leopard nearly escaped too

Incredibly, only two weeks after the fatal Christmas tiger escape, two other dangerous animals nearly escaped their enclosures at the zoo last week, the Chronicle reported today. According to the story, quoting zookeepers:

The polar bear scaled the wall of her exhibit after zoo officials pelted her with empty tranquilizer darts in a misguided effort to harass her into a night enclosure. …

Following last week’s incident, keepers have also told The Chronicle, many employees agreed to a vote of no confidence in Zoo Director Manuel Mollinedo.

Really makes you wonder what the hell is going on there.

The news of new problems comes as the Recreation and Park Commission and the Joint Zoo Committee held a public hearing today to look into the tiger tragedy.

Shut it down, arrest the management. Money which should have been spent on animals, enclosures and the basics has been fraudulently mis allocated to the parking lot, entry way, new whiz bang buildings for zoo goers, and rides for the kiddies. Oh, and also, overpaid execs, PR slime firms, marketing, etc. Now that death has resulted from this incompetence, smack ‘em down hard. Make an example.
