Potrero WF getting closer

wf_potrero_wide.jpg
Yuppies on Potrero Hill are beginning to salivate over the August opening of this brand-new Whole Foods, located at 17th and Rhode Island in the The Potrero development. The development, which takes up a whole block formerly occupied by the S&C Ford service facility, has been under construction for a year as the chain continues to expand in Northern California.

Construction on condos continues on the far side of the development (at left background in picture) even as the 17th St. side of the building is being finished.

The store is hiring, as the sign over the door indicates.

The 17th and Rhode Island location is only a short block away from what all San Francisco taxi drivers know as the secret center of the universe, 17th and De Haro.

This sucks, I’m not a yuppie. I guess I’ll have to keep shopping at the “non-yuppie” Safeway.

    Damn you, meaningless, outdated, steriotypes!

Love Whole Foods. Live 1/2 a block from the one on 4th and Harrison. Always nice to have more of them in the city. Rather shop there than Safeway. Although Traders is always nice!!

who still uses this term? yuppies were an 80s stereotype (learn how to spell) that symbolized a generational shift from blue collar hard work to white collar greed. the idea that people seeking organic, wholesome food are yuppies is simply misplaced anger and ignorance.

And yuppies on Potrero hill?? What an oxymoron. Check out Pac Heights, Laurel Heights, The Marina and Russian Hill for your “yuppies”.

Damn you, chemical munching, meaningful, trendsetter!
