Lakeside Cafe
A place we often stop by to eat whenever we’re around 19th and Ocean is the Lakeside Cafe. The atmosphere is that of a simple old-fashioned restaurant, and a lot of senior citizens frequent the joint. Sure the food is fairly standard American fare, with menu items like turkey sandwiches and macaroni and cheese. But their seafood dishes never fail to please. From grilled mahi mahi to sauteed shrimp, they’ve all been simple and delicious.
As you can see from the photo, one of their specials last Friday was a Halibut baked in Filo Pastry Dough. It was accompanied with sauteed veggies drenched in a beautiful champagne sauce. The final masterful touch was the lovely tobiko fish eggs. It was just scrumplicious. The price hit the spot as well — only $18 — not bad in San Francisco. Plus the service has always been exceptionally fabulous. Definitely go to this cafe whenever you’re in the area (around West Portal and Stonestown).
