Help clean up the oil spill

oil_cleanup.jpgI heard this announced on the radio this morning, and got the information off the city’s 311 website. If you want to help clean up the oil spill from last Wednesday’s accident, gov’t agencies want you to get trained to handle what is regarded as hazardous waste:

The City, in cooperation with the State Fish and Game and the Environmental Protection Agency is offering a four-hour training that includes instruction and safety guidelines necessary for successful cleanup of beach-related hazardous waste. At the end of the training participants are issued a Disaster Service Worker (DSW) identification that certifies them for the duration of the oil spill clean up activities.

The four-hour training is scheduled for tonight, Wednesday, November 14, 2007, from 6:00 pm to 10:00 pm, at the Hall of Flowers, 9th Avenue and Lincoln Way entrance to Golden Gate Park. [map] — more info.
