Howard St. to close again, starting tomorrow

Just as happened last year, the city will close Howard St. between 3rd and 4th for over a week to allow attendees of a huge computer industry trade show to wander helplessly between exhibit halls. Tagged with RFID-enabled badges and laden down with shopping bags full of low-quality swag, the fatal nerds can’t be trusted to cross the street safely, so it has to be closed for them.

That’s 24 hours a day, until 6 a.m. on Nov. 17. Anyone driving east of 3rd St., or in North Beach, Chinatown, or worst of all the Financial District should seriously consider taking the bus.

I just hope I won’t have a taxi fare going there.

It’s actually so that approximately 11,000 of the nerds can be fed lunch every day. I know it’s a pain, but the industry trade show really does bring a lot of needed revenue into the City.
