To The or Not To The: Local Semantics
SFist has a hilarious comment thread going on about how we all refer to our freeways. I’m really loving it. It wanders from what we call South California freeways, to how large in our imagination looms the freeway, to the Angels, to the Castro, to North Beach (note: no article). Good read, and a great break from work if you are so inclined.
Sadly, it appears that SFist is now excluding guest comments. Why is that sad? It’s sad because guest (i.e., unregistered) commentators are quite often the most brilliant contributors to the site.
