Bay Area Well Represented in D.C ( …Jail That Is )

While at home The Bay Area goes about it’s Sept 11th routine, locally based Code Pink activist Medea Benjamin was amongst those arrested in Washington D.C yesterday, protesting during General Petraeus’ appearance before Congress. The activists are angry not only with the Bush admin, but the new Democratically controlled Congress that’s turned its back on the peace movement that helped get it elected. Not content to just protest Madame Speaker Pelosi’s office in SF, or her home in Pacific Heights, they are also in DC everyday and not being shy.

Today they are spending the day speaking out on the 6th anniversary of the 9-11 attacks, reminding Americans that more Americans have died in Iraq than innocent victims did in the tragic WTC attack. That’s not to mention at least 650,000 Iraqis killed, or some 4+ million other displaced & desperate Iraqis left to wither and wane while we claim a moral highground and watch our war wind down to an inevitable withdrawal.

Painted as loony lefty ladies by the national media, one certainly cannot call them lazy. See Code Pink’s latest Flash movie featuring a peace movement that’s pictured marching miles ahead of a zombie-fied Pelosi and her pals after the jump…
