Mysterious body in front of SF Hilton
While the staff of the hotel and media were mum, this weekend reports vary as to the origin of a white male seen dead in his underwear in front of the SF Hilton on O’Farrell about midnight on Sunday night.
Some rumors are that a man jumped from the 24th floor of the SF Hilton and died on O’Farrell St. The fire department showed up and quickly hosed the blood down the gutter into the sewer, and the incident was more or less officially over.
Some say a body was tossed out of a moving car, possibly a cab…
Others heard a loud noise, and thought it was a shooting, possibly related to a string of robberies…
Local media were also completely void of mentions on the incident thus far to my knowledge…
Whatever it officially was, it now amounts to just another body found in a big city…

Add another drug shooting to the Tenderloin/Theater District! Way to go SF Police Dept in protecting the neighborhood from the drug dealers and the violence that is associated with it.A few months ago there was another shooting at Ellis and Cyril Magnin St,killing one and also that same day a shooting at Market and 5th.I live at Ellis and Jones and the cameras are up and filming but they do no good,drug dealing is just as rampant as it ever was,and they are not just druggies but homeless too.They come for the free food at Glide and St.Anthony’s and stay to do their drugs,as the dealers bring them to them! Something has got to be done!I have emailed the police,the DA,the Mayor,to no avail.No one seems to care that we live here and have a right to go to the grocery store and be safe and not fear being the victim of a random shooting or stabbing.Maybe now that it happened at the Hilton the police will get clear on the problem and do something.I just hope so.
Somewhat unfortunately, I can shed some light on this incident.
The young man’s name was Brian Webster, he was 26. He was a medical student at UC San Diego. Brian was in the Bay Area this month for a medical rotation.
Sunday evening he had been with several of us, his friends, downtown at Fresh/Ruby Skye until 11pm, when he left ‘to get some air’. That was the last we saw of him. His sister contacted us the next morning to inform us that he had fallen/jumped from the Hilton.
How he went from clubbing — he wasn’t partying or drinking — to falling/jumping from the Hilton two blocks away is a major mystery to us. We know Brian had suffered from several challenges, and so while we are all looking back at the hours before his death looking for ’signs’, we also know that we will probably never know what Brian was thinking/feeling.
A Memorial Service is scheduled for Sunday in San Diego, followed by burial Thursday 13 September in Anacortes, WA where Brian’s parents live.

As an added twist to the tragedy, his family was gathering this weekend in San Diego for his younger brother’s wedding, today (Saturday).
