Books and writers Monday

There’s a nice piece in today’s New York Times on author Ann Packer, who grew up on the Peninsula as the daughter of a Stanford professor and has returned to live in San Carlos. I found two 2002 interviews of Packer, when her novel “The Dive from Clausen’s Pier” was burning up the bestseller list, here and here.

Tomorrow at the Castro District branch of the SF Public Library, Michelle Tea hosts her monthly Radar Salon reading, this time featuring novelist Felice Picano and poet Max Valerio.

In its “Faces of Labor” feature today, the Chronicle featured Green Apple Books clerk Stephen Sparks, a 29-year-old east coaster who moved here in April.
