Life As An Architectural Rendering
My fantasy is to be one of those beautiful people in architectural renderings, wandering around purposefully with my briefcase amongst mature, healthy urban trees. To live this fantasy, check Owings’ firms’ renderings of the street level, as seen on SocketSite’s reviews of TransBay Terminal’s new designs.
At dinner last night amongst far too many architects, there was a lot of discussion about the design: “ghastly,” and “torqued,” came up. We also talked about how it was simply to bring hope to our skyline, how we dont’ want to be another cookie-cutter, Fisherman’s Wharf, six-sisters trite postcard city. Modern design can be good, and our skyline can change.
Mark covered this too, here: “Huge erection for SOMA.”
