Last night Jason took me out to the private launch party for a new social network site, Pownce. I wasn’t officially invited to the party so I kind of crashed it — but I had a really fabulous time with many friends. What was extra cool was finally going into Dennis Peron’s house — if you’ve ever gone up 17th between Church and Castro, you’ve seen it, that hyooge crazy pink, fake castle, looks like a big fluffy gay wedding cake of a place. I’ve always wanted to go inside, and was stoked for the opportunity — I only wish I’d gotten to meet Dennis Peron, who used to be Harvey Milk’s boyfriend. Wow!

Thomas Hawk took great photos of the party and the house — check them out if you want to see what’s behind that bedazzled facade. Thomas also has a great writeup of the party, and Scott Beale was “off the clock” but couldn’t resist shooting a few pics and has a nice post as well.

Isn’t Dennis Peron a Republican pot activist? And he lives in a pink house in Castro? Why can’t more repbulicans be this cool?
