Speaking of the Dyke March and Flickr, here’s my take of my favorite Pride event. (Apologies to those who may have to log in btw.) A friend of mine hosted his annual DM party at the corner of 18th & Guerrero. Since that’s right near where the parade kicks off, it’s the perfect vantage point to cheer on the women. It’s especially cool because everyone is still in the ‘excitement honeymoon’ phase. So when they look up and see all of us shouting at the top of our lungs with our signs, they go nuts. (I’m always blown away by the looks of sheer joy on those faces below.)

Now onto: “Funny But Bad Idea”. One tipsy young woman (not the one featured to the left, just so you know) had the naughty idea to write her cell number on one of the signs, instructing any hottie women out there to call her. Not surprisingly, she got 3 calls within the first 10 minutes. And obviously, there were many people below taking pictures of us as well. Thus behold the (literally) Sobering Power of Flickr. ‘Cuz like yeah, her phone number is now broadcast out there for all the world to see…and dial. I called this at the time, to no avail. So guess who’s probably gonna have to change her number really really soon? (No word of if she actually got any action though. At least that would make it partially worth it I guess.)
