Yeah, I'll second what Greg said. I live in Ocean View right around the city limits and there is nothing worth taking a picture of over here.

Even though we live in the city my girlfriend and I routinely will refer to "going into the city" or such. There just isn't much city out here. Unless, that is, I listen to Muni and decide to take a pleasurable trip out to scenic Bayview. Or maybe picturesque Visitacion Valley.

If Google is going to make a change though rather than taking some pictures, they need to acknowledge that there are roads that go through the Daly City BART station. Right now it's just a big empty space and directions treat it like an impassable barrier. Not like I need the directions myself, but it's still missing relevant information. Hell, the 54 Muni drives down the unmarked zone every day.

Cesar Chavez Street? That's like calling Candlestick 3-Com or Monster Park. It's Army Street.

Actually, I'm astonished they covered anything west of Divisadero and south of Golden Gate Park.

Astonished I am.

Would you take a van full of cameras and computers into the bayview or hunter's point? If so you'd be braver man than I (and google, apparently).

Yeah, I live in the Ingleside and I can't say I really blame them for skipping over this part of town. There really isn't a whole lot of interest here.

i have to agree that you are over-reacting. it seems pretty clear to me that they started in the most highly populated / business-oriented areas and are working their way outward from there. it's not like someone is sitting there saying, well, that's where the yuppie white folk go, so i think our work is done here.

the predominantly asian residential neighborhood in which i live was not included when this feature was first presented to the public. however, it has been added in the last few days. if you pay attention, i'm sure you'll see more streets being added as well.

they are adding more streets all the time and i'm sure they will include the areas south of cesar chavez. please stop trying to find racism and classism where none exists. there are plenty of cases where that is a real issue and where your indignation would be better directed.

The van driver probably stopped at a Mission District for lunch and gave up after falling into a burrito-induced food coma.

"city the way most middle-class white people see it: that it doesn't exist south of, say, Cesar Chavez St. (represented on the above image by the red line)."

that's a really, really stupid thing to say.

did you notice that, after caesar chavez, the city's roads aren't a grid pattern but a desperate set of roads haphazardly planned without any regards to efficiency?

may be that's why they havent captured anything south of sf. it's easier to drive on a grid than driving on randomly planned roads.
