City Hall Fire Alarm & Bus Shelter Vote
Last night at about 6 pm , with the hearing rooms at City Hall chock full of activity, a fire alarm forced the evacuation of the building. The democratic process was stopped in mid deliberation and everyone ended up befuddledly chatting on the sidewalk. The bloat of our bureaucratic bodies was on display for rush hour traffic to see, ostensibly important Entertainment Commissioners and Human Rights Commission members mingled. Tom Ammiano was spotted chatting amicably nearby on the steps with former supe / DA Terence Hallinan, while guys in City Hall Building Management jackets carrying a bullhorn said nothing, leaving the mystery for us all.
Jeremy Paul, a permit expediter representing the Double Dutch bar on 16th was able to get that joint a DJ license, but then had to wait to do double duty representing The Hole In The Wall tavern on their proposed move. He’s pictured below rallying a couple dozen Hole In The Wall supporters during the unscheduled intermission before heading back into the Planning Commission meeting. The Hole In The Wall were apparently successful in their bid to move their license to a new location on Folsom St.
Eventually, axe wielding firemen arrived…
and i split having had enough excitement and tedium for the day thus far.
Today’s “excitement” at City Hall apparently has to do with potential bus shelter designs being on display in the South Light Court.. Supposedly you can vote on the MTA’s proposed designs online over the next couple weeks…
Although despite an invitation and press release, there was no sign of this when i visited the page yet at http://www.sfmta.com/shelters

Apparently I’m the only person in San Francisco with the amazing technological ability to get photos of all the bus shelters online before the close of Thursday’s exhibition:

Granted, they’re only camera phone pictures, but still. Pretty sad when I’m the one beating everyone else to publication.
Please excuse the obnoxiousness of the above comment; I’m going to blame what is either severe allergies or a mild flu for making me cranky. Sorry.
what an incredibly boring post.
I took some as well..I had to take as many as I could in a short time, but hey, there you have a few more. I also posted a short post noting the oddball way of letting folks know via NextMuni.
