I Saw You

Local comic artist Julia Wertz of Fart Party fame has been collecting comics from various other artists with a common theme: “I Saw You”. We’re all a bit fascinated by the Missed Connections ads on Craigslist, perhaps hoping that we’ll find an ad that refers to ourselves. The I Saw You book is to be a collection of comics portraying the plight of those who feel they missed a connection with a special someone, taking inspiration from real Craigslist ads. It’s voyeuristic, humorous, and sometimes a little sad.

The book will be sold at the Alternative Press Expo later this month (APEril 21-22). Local artists and friends Kevin Cheng and Marinaomi, and the recently metblogged Shannon O’Leary are amongst the contributors. You can see the full lists of contributing artists at the I Saw You blog, and a sampling of the comics at their flickr page.

Today is the deadline for submissions for the book that is to be sold at APE this month, but not to fear, there is a second version book in the works , with a deadline in August!
