    He proves a valid point though.. this is the first thing that people encounter when they visit. All the grandest tourist stories are filled with the homeless encounters. It’s sad and it paints a gloomy, pessimistic view of SF.

    I have been to The City last year in summer, and I didnt even see one homeless guy, have I been to the wrong districts? :)

    while i don’t advocate torturing or running over bums with busses, it’s disgusting to see them all over the city all of the time, and having to smell their waste and urine instead of nearby flowers and trees while outdoors.

    what is wrong with making it a crime punishable by jail for sleeping and defecating on the streets? giving every homeless person a mandatory city job that they can accomplish: street cleaning, planting trees and flowers, clerical work in city hall, etc. and giving them real paychecks which they can use to pay their rents etc.
    bottom line, why is it not ILLEGAL to sleep and piss and shit on the streets here?
