AsianWeek - “Why I Hate Blacks” - Roundtable Friday
In case you missed it, this is the most astonishing local media story of the year so far. Kenneth Eng, an author at AsianWeek, and self-proclaimed Asian Supremacist, submitted a story to the magazine titled “Why I Hate Blacks”. And the AsianWeek editorial staff, led by Ted Fang saw fit to run it. Fang has said that Eng will never write for the paper again, and Eng has said nothing, at least publicly. It’s amazing to me that Fang has kept his job over this. Under what premise the editorial staff saw fit to run this, I’m not sure.
Some highlights from the story:
“In high school, I only remember one black student ever attending any of my honors and AP courses. And that student was caught cheating.”
“In my experience, I would say about 90 percent of blacks I have met, regardless of age or environment, poke fun at the very sight of an Asian. Furthermore, their activity in the media proves their hatred: Rush Hour, Exit Wounds, Hot 97, etc.”

Listening to KPOO earlier this evening, I heard a lot of outrage focused at Amos Brown for coming down soft on AsianWeek. Tomorrow morning there will be an open roundtable held at the Chinese American Citizens Alliance. I’m sure it will be a lively discussion.

This whole story boiled my mixed-race, asian-american blood. How that Eng piece was ever deemed fit to print continues to amaze me. Even as an opinion piece, it is so heinously inflammatory that I really just came away with incredible disdain for the writer of it. And not as prejudice. As actual contempt.
well, there is no human on the earth as black. First he is making a fool of himself because no one ia black. Talking of Africans, we are above his type of hate. Is his hate more than murdering of millions of Africans who were forceflly taken as slaves? Moreso, I have lived in China and I the Chinese people cheat more than any person you can think. Talking of media, Africans play the role as directed but the director. You can’t take a movie to judge someone. Thirdly. the world is about cheating. It is now that Africans are getting into the game.

Well, the fact that his family owns the paper may have something to do with it.
The thing is — the article isn’t merely inflammatory and racist. It’s also just plain stupid and juvenile. It doesn’t even deserve to be printed in the KKK monthly newsletter.
It was a juvenile piece, but his point of blacks being equally, if not more racist, is absolutely observable on TV, movies, and real life. Many blacks are very much racist toward Asians and whites.
The city has a 1,000 stories, and the ones that don’t get printed are the ones about how a small town can have people living side by side of diff. races and not even know each other. I haven’t read the article- not Asian, and also, just not interested in what inflammatory opinions one kid has to say about people he doesn’t even really know. I mean, to what purpose does an article labelled like that serve?
Random story somewhat illustrative: friend of mine (she is black) put an ad in Craigslist to find a nice black guy as a friend. She got 12 responses, 10 were in Oakland. Two of them, she already knew. Ta-da. We’re a very segregated city.
Fang: monopoly.
I hate MIECES to PIECES!
Since the paper is owned by the Fangs, it’s no surprise that he’s kept his job, though I believe his mom fired him or a sibling from a similar position when they were busy running the Examiner into the ground.
The real mystery here is how in the hell Editor In Chief Samson Wong is holding on to his job. He’s the guy that approved the piece for a print run, as well as some of Kenneth Eng’s earlier race-baiting columns. Wong even went as far as defending Eng’s work until the Fangs realized what was going on and sent Ted in for damage control. Since then, not a peep from the man who was directly in charge of the paper’s content
Noone bats an eye when Eng bashes whites. In a letter to the SF Chronicle by the European/American Issues board, an interesting point:
“We are also outraged that the Chronicle has given so little attention to the AisanWeek article ‘Proof that Whites Inherently hate us’ (11/24/06). Talk about stereotyping! Eng wrote that ‘whites’ hate Asians because they defend blacks when blacks are victims of racial slurs.”
Why is that when the issue is that of blacks, everyone–blacks and whites–is up in arms. Racist remarks concerning whites are allowed. The reason is that black leaders are much more shrill and annoying in their public outcries. Just shut up already. Realise, black community –I’m talking to you–that because some idiot says something you find disagreeable, it does not mean you are entitled to an apology or firing of some editor.
Whites didn’t call for the resignation of the editor or the writer after his column “Proof that Whites Inerently Hate Us,” because the civilized among us realize that this is beyond reason.
Get over it, people.

The article is a non-event. I’m saying that the people who get offended so easily at his words, and demand apologies, should get over it. Get a thicker skin and get over it. Cheers. –T
Oh, don’t mind Tironius. It has that whole lack of perspective borne from privelege thing going on, and can’t help itself.
Perhaps Eng is not racist nor Asian supremacist, but wrote a series of columns targeting and attacking different/all racial groups (including Asians) in order to show the idiocy of this type of racial prejudice. However, the writer has yet to defend himself or his intent, and considering the lack of professional writing style, he can’t pull off anything of Swift- or Twain-caliber, so even if he thought he was doing something clever, he failed.
This is a masterpiece of media manipulation. Eng and Fang (now there’s a combo act) have ignited a major controversy, spread Asianweek’s name to millions who probably never have read it or even seen it, spiked the readership numbers and will no doubt increase circulation and notoriety because of it.
The magazine business doesn’t get any better than that, folks. Sad but true. But it does speak volumes of the character of the editors who’d pull such a low-life, unreconstructed stunt. It reminds me of how the SF Call used to boost its circulation a hundred years and more ago; it could always kick the Chinese—it worked every time. A hundred years later, the Chinese can kick African Americans and in the tragic markers of race, it perhaps says something of how some of them have “advanced”. Next thing you know, they’ll offer mint juleps at the Szechwan joints…
I will not respond to the irresponsibleness or negative stereotyping of Mr. Eng’s comments. I will share some present and historical issues. Maybe he, like most people believe the western lie that has been taught and shared for so long in the modern world today. As far as science is concerned man started in Africa, not white, Asian, the 1st man as we know him to be today was a black man, brown in hue negro as they say. From them all other civilization sprung. The oldest and most studied culture in the world is in Africa, Egypt…the artifacts are clearly black African as the Greeks, Romans, and pre- 1st century cultures have expressed. As for the religion of Christianity, that too is also comes out of Africa. Pick up a real history book and read you might learn something beyond the lie.
Africans gave to western civilization that gift of religion, though they in turn tried to color it white, as they still do, do not be confused about the origins of Christian faith, as they too are African. If you do not know the history as it relates to a people you are ignorant to its truth (World history not just Biblical).
As for Blacks hating Asians, that is absurd. Blacks do not hate Asians or whites, but rather the ignorance that breeds injustice in the fallacy of racism. The racism of those who Blacks have given so much to, in culture, art, science, philosophy and more etc.; yet the world thinks themselves superior to the origin of man. This is due to a perpetual lie birthed by slavery of Blacks.
Furthermore it is the stigma of slavery that makes men of the world look upon Blacks as though they were weak…truth be told there is no other race which could have survived such a harsh indignity. It was more than cruel and malicious to body and spirit. The world today flourishes because of the free labor in America from Black slaves.
The ancient world flourished because of the disciplines created and discovered by Black Africans. Though science knows this to be true they attempt to hide it, to maintain the lie the white western culture, one which has been embraced throughout Asian nations I might add; as believed to be superior. So Mr. Eng who is really the weak in will and easily coerced? You believe what you do about blacks because you were taught to…not because it is the truth. The Truth is NO NATION OF PEOPLE IN THE WORLD HAS HELD A LONGER DYNASTY IN THE HISTORY OF MAN. Not 2000-5000 years but 12000-17000 years… they just teach that of the last 6000.
Longer then the Romans, Greeks, Persians, Chinese, Japanese, Native Americans, Anglo Saxons, Korean…NONE among the WORLD….remember that when you think of the history of a people who stretches back before the known existence of any other man in the world. Egypt is but one example, like most African history which is being twisted and falsified to teach that whites where responsible for our culture. When the artifacts contradicted the lie it becomes defaced or lost or stolen and hidden away…think about why that is…if Blacks are erased from history as in having never mattered but were only slaves, who then will replace themselves in the Africans shoes of Greatness?

B.K., I’m sorry that man has evolved beyond that origin species. I’m sorry that I bare a lesser resemblance to those from which man sprung than your old and proud people. I’m sorry that this white race you speak of created the nicities of democracy and civilization of law and representation. I’m sorry that your proud and noble race of people tracing back to the beginnings of man are now able to drive cars and fly in airplanes. Again, my most old and preserved member of history, I must say ‘Sorry’ for your anguish. And, I must say thank you for all that you have given me. Thank you for your gangster culture. Truly, I feel the blanket of warm safety wrapped around me when I walk through them. Surely whenever I go there, I see nothing but an harmonious people in the streets holding hand-to-unarmed-hand. And thank you for letting me live here, in your presence, so that I may behold your glory, the true standard of what a human being must be. Mr. Eng just got a little carried away……he should have started off slowly in his article instead of coming out of the gate so fast. He should of said things like:
- Black people don’t tip well
- 8 out of 10 black women are overweight or obese yet they still complain when a black guy goes out with someone other than a fat black chick
-Black people are Loud….especially the women (Norbit anyone)
- Black people speak very poor English then wonder why they can’t get a job
- Black people put sports before education…always.
- Black people consistantly turn to rappers, football & basketball stars and preachers as role models and reps. of the community intead of black doctors, professors, lawyers, and accountants. You know, the people that read a book besides a playbook and bible.

Black Women:I knew a decent black man dating my white boss, and she asked him why he was dating a white woman. She told me that he said that the black women he dated had a sense of entitlement, one expected him to buy him a car. Another wanted a house. And they were all fat and lazy (his words).
Black People Loud: Whenever I hear a commotion on the Muni, sure enough there is melanin inolved. One dirty black guy was singing to the top of his lungs on a cramped bus the lyrics to Limp Bizkit (of all things). Swear to god, he had an Asian wife.
