Barack in da hizzy yo!

Barack Obama by Jason DeFillippo

As Mark pointed out, Barack Obama was in town today pimping for Barbara Boxer among other things. I attended the fund raiser tonight along with 1400 other people to an utterly packed house at the Westin St. Francis Hotel in Union Square. I did got a few shots of the man who would be king and Barbara. I even got a shot of my old time colleague Doug Boxer. Check out my pics on Flickr if you like.

So…what did the man have to say Jason?? And why’s he sleeping in your picture ;-)

Basically he talked about how the country needs a change and the same old same old you hear from most candidates. He didn’t say anything that knocked my socks off. I’m still in the John Edwards camp at this point but I did buy his book tonight and will give it a go this week to see if he’s everything he’s cracked up to be. From what I saw tonight though I don’t think he’s the “one”.

And he wasn’t sleeping. It was a “reflective” moment :-)

And tonight he will be in LA for a fundraiser of his own:

That’s a downright Kennedy-esque portrait (not that he’s up to the comparison yet - but definitely of the would-be variety). Fantastic shot! I’d stay on the lookout for poachers . . . .

    Dear Grammar Sheriff,

Shouldn’t you be the “Spelling Sheriff” if you’re sending me spelling mistakes? I thank you for pointing out the error of my ways though and the post has been updated. Too many years of playing Mortal Kombat II and I got used to spelling Baraka. Hence the no “c”. Get it? Good. Now go get another handle for giving out spelling tickets.
