I love this city

bear.jpgSome guy who thought a a Brinks driver was responding to his feeble cruising attempts is probably on some kind of FBI watch list by now.

Memoirist/novelist/activist Stephen Elliott visits Kink.com’s studios (in their present location, not the soon-to-be Fortress of Pornitude on 14th St.) and finds shiny, happy people: “Everyone here seems to enjoy his or her work. At least today.” That’s right after narrating a scene involving a cattle prod.

Well, after all, the Bay Guardian last month called kink.com “a great place to work.”

A man suffered life-threatening burns over 70 percent of his body after rushing back into a burning house to save a friend’s dog. The guy was just house-sitting there; it wasn’t even his dog.

The ACLU doesn’t think the city’s free wi-fi plan has enough free-speech protections. Other groups are chiming in with criticism of the deal with Google and Earthlink; fiber-optic lines are part of an alternate solution being suggested. I have absolutely no idea where this leaves the internet users of San Francisco.

San Francisco vlogger Josh Wolf has broken the record for jail time for journalists [CNet video] who won’t reveal sources: 169 days. Here’s a good analysis piece from a journalism school.

Still time to get your Valentine’s Day gift at Good Vibrations — try the “Screaming O Ring” or the “Ohmibod.” And over at CNet they review an “exercise” device which “we’re not sure will primarily be used for physical fitness.”
