I am the point now where if I can use a tripod where I am and there is available light I will be doing HDR. I am really looking forward to the day when I can view my actual HDR images and not the tone mapped images directly. My wife took a bunch of normal images and I will be posting them shortly.

I dig the HDR effect - surreal yet made from actual lighting elements you've captured (if I'm understanding the technology anyway).

Did you get any natural light shots, however, that you like as much? Scenes not glistening from the HDR effect?

I like both - just wondering what else you like shooting in the big city!

Yes they are HDR photos, three exposurses combined and tone mapped in Photomatix. As for the fad trolling remark, I don't see HDR going away any time soon especially with HDR capable displays coming to market in the next few years along with HDR capable cameras. The same comments were made about dageurrotype by painters, color film by black and white photographers and digital photography by film shooters. It is all about how you use the medium now about how much of a purist you are. Btw I also shoot black and white film and love spending hours in the darkroom.

He's using a technique called HDR, which is a pretty huge fad at the moment (luckily seems to be passing) among amateur photographers.

In addition to Tyler82's question about the type of camera, may I ask if you utilize Photoshop or in any other way alter your photos? They're great shots, and I don't mean to insult in any way, but I think some of the colors in a previous shot of Chinatown were enhanced. Si o no?
