DiFi and Kim Family

From Oregonian,

U.S. Sen. Dianne Feinstein said Friday an unlocked gate in the mountains of Southern Oregon contributed to the death of a San Francisco man whose family car got stuck in snow, and she called for an Interior Department investigation.

Also on SF Gate.
Political grandstanding, or a legitimate concern? I remember reading on the comment boards that the search and rescue workers were deprived of national guardsmen because of the Iraq war, but don’t remember much analysis after that, so perhaps it’s not legit. I had heard that the unlocked gate was not due to vandalism. More from Oregonian:

“I [Dianne] am disturbed by what appears to be a failure to follow instruction and a deviation from agency policy that contributed to cause this incident.”

I have to say that the Chron article was so good- the one that detailed issues and fumbles with the search. Regarding DiFi’s dealio, I’m glad that some effort to make this not happen again is at least underway.

Note: I did not make up the term, DiFi.
