MacWorld Expo 2007, Jan 8-12
It’s early January, once again time for MacWorld, that hoary tech expo now in its 23rd year. Devoted to the ecosystem of products and services orbiting Apple Computer, it’s a confluence of print, web, audio, and video experts and noobs, as well as a launchpad for a quite a few parties. As usual, Steve Jobs will deliver the keynote. Kevin Smith is among the list of scheduled speakers.
The year the expo extends back into both North and South halls of Moscone center. Recently confined to just one hall, the last few years’ expos could just have easily been called “iPod World,” considering the ubiquity of the device and the overwhelming number of accessories for it being hawked on the floor. With 1.6 million Macs sold last quarter — the highest quarterly mark ever — and rampant rumors of an Apple audio/video/phone, there will likely be a lot to chat about at those parties I linked to above.
My big plans? Look for a computer bag and discounts on O’Reilly books. And marvel at all the people still doing print. And laugh at smug hipster bandwagoneers. Ah, that old-time religion.
And then there’s this [good call] action from our local friends at the Anti-Advertising Agency:

Stay Free at the MacWorld Expo
Are you free next week? Friends of the Anti-Advertising Agency, Stay Free! Magazine are trying to coordinate a prank for MacWorld in San Francisco. The event is Jan 9-12 at Moscone Center and Stay Free needs people to hand out flyers promoting the latest iPod accessory, the iDump – a trash bag for your iPod after it breaks.
