End of 2006

As the end of 2006 approaches, I contemplate the failures and successes of the past year… not! I just have to remind myself to date checks 2007.

Tonight will be amateur night. All of our 10 city cabs will be taken. I will want to be in three places at one time. I will hold my champagne – Deutz- close to my body and perhaps find some cutie to share it with. There will be no Harry met Sally moment at 11:56 running through the streets to kiss Billy Crystal (ugh). In fact, no matter where I am we will probably miss midnight, until we hear people out on the sidewalk hootin’ and hollerin’.

One of the best NYE’s was…

Spent as designated driver shopping my friends around to parties. Seeing SF, and each district, during a party holiday like this, is kind of fun. It’s like you have the superpower of flight and can fly around to other parties. What an abuse of a superpower. Anyway, the other great NYE’s was growing up, climbing into the hills and sitting on the rim of our favorite drainage ditch, watching the fireworks around the south bay, with a flask of creme de menthe- why that was always the alcohol of choice at 15 is beyond me. Among the parties I’ve heard about tonight- a lot of house parties, from SOMA to tender-nob, to Fort Mason- and my plan is the B-U-S (oh yeah!). Live shows at Bimbo’s, Minna St., etc. Lionel RItchie, Baby! – but in reality, I’m more looking forward to the news blitz of 2006 roundups tomorrow .

As I said before I’m not that meaningfully involved in NYE, but I hope everyone has good fortune and happy times in 2007! Xin nian kuaile! 新 年 快 了 Bonne annèe nouvelle! Gott nytt årr!

What was your best NYE in SF? Wow, I was almost going to write FRISCO hahhaha.
