God Jul!

God Jul: Merry Christmas in Swedish. Tomorrow is a fabulous party, the Swedish Christmas Fair in San Francisco. Lots of crafts, food, and fun Christmas activities. Put on by the SWEA- Swedish Women’s Educational Association. All info at that link- basically at the Cathedral of St. Mary’s, Gough Street, 9-4. More random Jul – Svenka stories… after the jump.

The SWEA hang at Palo Alto Ikea food court for their meetings. Isn’t that great? Also, St. Lucia day is coming up, a day in which all of us (malicious, mafia) Swedes laugh mockingly at the Norwegians and Danes and trot around with candles in our hair, and saffron-raisin buns in our belly, singing this song.

Thanks for the tip, Kathy Me, the Dane who I hang out with on Norway Day (5/07).

Yum, Lussekatt! As a swedish transplant, lucia is definitely one of the few things missed (and appreciated once discovered in other places). Funny how that works. And Glögg of course!

Aww, the Swedes. Aren’t they a bit like Danish-lite? Just kidding. :-)

You guys might want to checkout the Nordic House (next to Neldam’s Danish bakery) in Oakland.

I don’t know exactly which week they do this, but every year around this time the Nordic House serves up fresh Aebleskiver.
