SF No Longer Bidding for Olympics

One of the major activities that Mayor Newsom has had on his plate lately has been the bidding for San Francisco to be the home of the 2016 Olympics, but it doesn’t look like his efforts have ended in success. Bidding for the Olympics was dependent in large part upon planning for improvements to the 49ers stadium which would then be host to the critical opening and closing ceremonies of the Olympics. Those plans fell through this week when news came that the 49ers will be moving their stadium away from its San Francisco home to an outside-city location such as Santa Clara. Even though San Francisco is not going to be the location for the 2016 Olympics, California might not be entirely out of the running for the event since Los Angeles is being seriously considered as host at this time.
