The Feast at Stuck in the Mire
My favorite San Francisco band, The Feast, is playing Stuck in the Mire on November 20th. I saw them play there a few months back, and I had a great time. The venue was full, but not Bottom-of-the-Hill-crowded. I’d never been to Blondie’s before–it never seemed like my kind of bar when I walked past it on the weekend–but on a weeknight it was surprisingly chill.
I’m terrible when it comes to describing music (“It’s like acid weasel jazz, by way of Jolie Holland if she grew up on a farm with Trent Reznor“) so let me just say that The Feast plays thoughtful, sweet, folky rock. I might bring up the name Mazzy Star if I were to try and describe them. So why not click above on their name and check out their songs on their MySpace page? I recommend “Take Me Down.” It’s good.
The Feast will be playing with Grace Woods, Earthquake Profiteers, and Blue Mire (the organizers of the event). Stuck in the Mire is a showcase of local bands, hosted at Blondie’s in the Mission (540 Valencia @ 16th). It happens every Monday & Wednesday, at 8pm. No cover.
The Feast are also playing a stripped-down acoustic show at the Red Vic Hotel (1665 Haight) on Monday the 16th @ 7pm.
