More Adventures in Champagne & Rudeness

I got this email in my inbox yesterday, along with a photo, that has a photo of me in it. Mise en abyme! Needless to say I was already planning on going to the tasting, so it was a fait accompli. I’ll stop speaking French any day now. What’s better than a glass of champagne? 8! It was a dark and stormy night but still managed to get out to Coit, which in total North Beach style is a wine tasting room. There, I learned from other attendees that Canteen is a little gem restaurant. I’ll check it out. The tasting was a unique opportunity to taste various bottles side by side. More on backwoods rudeness…
After the tasting ran over to L’Osteria, my favorite Italian restaurant in the neighborhood, and had a nice huge pizza with a friend. This guy behind me kept jamming into my chair. It’s a small, about 12-person seated restaurant, and he was claiming in a drunken yell that he couldn’t get any service. 12 people- kind of hard to believe. Then, he falls out of his chair trying to get some attention. He had the same waitress we had, and she was fine. The hostess intervened, but since it’s a 12-person restaurant the guy kept yelling at his waitress who was behind the back of the hostess. Yelling, more yelling, and then the drunken man’s girlfriend telling him, “That’s not even your waitress.” He gets louder, more yelling, until I finally hear something, the waitress going, “Oh, go home to your backwoods.”
