Show of the Week
Definitely an eclectic lineup due to the sudden cancellation of the Futureheads, tonight’s show at Mezzanine should entertain. Starting with Foreign Born, out of L.A., I really have a hard time describing their music as I’ve never seen them live. From the few songs I’ve heard here though, I’m pretty impressed. Cold War Kids follow, who are easily one of the best new bands I’ve seen live. After releasing only three EPs and on the verge of releasing their first LP, they’ve already put on a couple (#1 , #2) amazing live shows here in San Francisco. Headlining, and replacing the Futureheads is the Album Leaf (Jimmy LaValle) the third piece to the odd lineup. The Album Leaf is a completely different sound (mostly ambient) so it should be interesting to see how he matches up with his more rockin predecessors.
