Yelp Gets 10M

Read this in Valleywag yesterday and am still… well, it’s a complicated feeling. Yelp contains almost every business you can think of- and some abstract things like “OMG” and then deep insightful thoughts about those places, sometimes bording on fictional conversations or text messages between partygoers.

** John is hitting on 2 chicks - his hands are caressing the right one’s back while his face is too close to the one on the left
** Adam W reappears. Reports of his barfing adventure in the bathroom

Etc.

I actually love Yelp- I think the folks there aren’t doing a bad thing- and I hope the cash doesn’t make them go MC Hammer. VentureBeat talks about the parties, which just shows how pervy they are. Basically the fact that restauranteurs read Yelp and act on the bad reviews make the site a success; the elite parties are mostly just spending cash on the top reviewers, and getting 100 or so of these writers to write about a new venue. I think we all agree it’s a good site, but why 10M???
