Autumn Evenings

Visited my parents in Pacific Grove this week, and did some yard work as a belated birthday gift: see the path there? It was covered in overgrowth before I hacked it back. Took about two hours. Potato vine, Mexican Sage, pineapple sage, bougainvillea, lemon-scented geranium, and some dying poppies and alyssum.
Cleaned out the chiminea here, it was full of raccoon poo. We had a cleansing ceremony of burning sage, lavender and heather. Those little potbellied stoves really warm up the evening. Pacific Grove has great smells: the sea air, pines, and unfortunately fish emulsion from my Dad’s earlier gardening efforts. The sage and heather helped after a while, on that front. I managed to lure the parents out for a cocktail, but we had to go inside for dinner. To those that may be worried the chiminea is too close to the fence: it was never left unattended. Purchased at Home Depot for about 20$.
