Arabian Nights

Come one, come all, it’s time to go to the movies! The 10th Annual Arab Film Festival kicked off last night at the Roxie Theatre with two sold out screenings. The shorts, documentaries and feature films will be showcased through September 17 at venues in San Francisco, Berkeley and San Jose. Tickets can be purchased in advance or at the door and festival passes are available as well.

Given the conflict in the Middle East and September 11th around the corner, now more than ever We the People should support a community that has largely been marginalized and misrepresented by American media. The selections offer a glimpse into the Arab world that most of us have never seen yet discuss issues that weave through the fabric of humanity. If you’ve got patience and an open mind, I personally recommend Kiss Me Not On The Eyes.

C’mon peoples, will you be there?
