Used to have T-Mobile and it would cut out along many sections of the Upper and Lower Haight. Switched to Verizon and never had any problem.

I love my Verizon, but really - it's difficult to switch after all these years.

My Sprint works just fine in San Francisco, and most everywhere that my taxi takes me. Hey, it might be the new cool.

I know Sprint isn't cool, but I have had great coverage with it everywhere in CA, except Kirkwood.

I've noticed that Cingular/AT&T has some spotty coverage in the Mission, and it gets a little worse inside the house. I've found that attaching an external antenna really does wonders when using your phone indoors.
Kudos to AT&T for continuing to pay for having service underground downtown, but if I'm coming home from the Embarcadero, the length of the trip until we pass Civic Center is only just too short to get anything done.

Cingular/AT&T has transponders in civic center, powell, montgomery, embarcedaro...but not in 16th street mission. I don't know if there are any in the East Bay. They pay to have their transponders down there, so it could change at any time.

Yes, I have heard many times that T-Mobile is among the worst. They are the cheapest, though.
