Where did summer go?

As I was finishing lunch, the light broke through the clouds and lit up my apartment. The wind was still blowing, but the park looked bright. I threw the dishes in the sink, grabbed my keys and my bike. Cloudy all weekend, so thought in my head: it will be so nice to get a little bit of sun just to say I did so over Labor Day weekend. I threw a book in the backpack, and almost forgot to tie my shoes before I was out the door and hurtling down the back side of 17th towards Golden Gate Park.
By the time I arrived, the sun had been swallowed up again. Such a tease. These turtles seemed to be the only warm ones hanging around Spreckels Lake. You can see the sky in the water. A time for adjusting white balance. A time for North Face. Summertime.

Ah, my daughter knows these turtles well. We’re at Spreckles Lake nearly every day for a walk. We once counted (well, she can’t count yet) 17 turtles stacked on the turtle back!
Hope you get some sun next time–been rare, lately.
