Man found dead underneath a BART train
Yikes, looks like today is a day for BART mishaps! One man was found dead underneath a train in Union City, while a woman found underneath a West Oakland train was sent to the hospital. There were some BART delays in the afternoon, but it looks like service was restored. Check out the full details here.

I saw that story on SF Gate, and I was struck (no pun intended) by the way it says people “were found under BART trains.” Did the driver stick his head out of the cab during a stop and say “OMG, look that that”?
How many options do we have, really?
1. Someone fell, or deliberately jumped, in front of a train and was struck.
2. Someone jumped onto the tracks to retrieve a dollar that had fallen out of their pocket, couldn’t get back on the platform, decided to take their chances in the concrete slot under the train, and was injured or killed anyway.
No. 1 sounds a lot more likely. Why don’t they just say “Someone was struck by a BART train”?
Actually, yea, I agree. I think KCBS reported as “two people were struck”, instead of “two people were found”.
Duh folks, let’s stay away from the tracks that the train run on … der.
Welcome to Doublespeak, it’s all the rage these days.
