The San Francisco Browncoat Ball

The Browncoats, as you may or may not yet know, are what you would call fans of the “Firefly” tv series, and the film “Serenity.” They generally worship at the altar of Joss Whedon, and rightfully so.

The Browncoats throw an annual ball that free spirits from all around the world travel to attend. Previously this ball was held in Chicago, but this year the ball happens to be right here in our lovely city by the bay, on September 22nd thru the 24th. The events being organized seem to be aimed more at tourists than locals, with a boat tour of the bay and a walking tour of Chinatown being highlighted. But it is called the Browncoat Ball, so there will indeed be a fancy-dress ball happening, with appropriate attire encouraged. So if you have a frilly dress or a pair of tight pants and a proclivity for speechifying you may want to check this out.

Oh my lord – this sounds like a delightfully nerdy event. I admit, I got hooked on this show, completely devoured the DVDs and quickly joined the ranks of fans who feel that hollow-pang of missing such a rad show. That was some good shit.
