Calling commando green thumbs!

Join SF’s own Rebar in scheming for the upcoming PARK(ing) Day 2006, a movement to reclaim the streets for parks and people!

The event entails a commando-style reclaiming of street parking spaces* for temporary mini-parks, complete with green grass and various features – benches, trees, bocce ball, you name it! – to encourage random public participation.

Rebar is seeking volunteers to scope out sites, participate in the install and deconstruct, and document the various events staged throughout the day. Check out clips from last years’ event here.

*Being ‘not necessarily’ sanctioned by the city (what fun would THAT be?) the interveners are encouraged to abide by the law, and feed the parking meter!
