It Was 40 Years Ago Today…

At the end of the month, Bay Area Film Events is hosting “Beatles: 40 Years Ago Today” at the Castro Theatre to commemorate the band’s final live performance at Candlestick Park on August 29, 1966. Events include Beatles movie showings, performances by Beatles cover band The Sun Kings, and even a Yellow Submarine sing-a-long (bring the kids!). Tickets to each event vary in price (and some are free), but for all the details, be sure to check out the Bay Area Film Events website. It all kicks off at the Hard Rock Cafe on Friday, August 25th at 11 am and runs through Sunday the 26th. Even if it means taking the long and winding road, bust out your Beatles gear and be there to celebrate of one of the best rock ‘n roll bands of all time! Come together… right now…

The Beatles are simply the best band of all time. I had no idea that their final performance was in San Francisco. Yet another reason why it is such a great city.
