This is my view right now
This is my view right now. I took over a conference room at the San Francisco office of my company today. Since I am used to working in a windowless office in San Jose, I am completely distracted by the goings ons on Market, and the fog rolling in. I love it.

The fog is coming in, coming into my room actualy as I speak, and I’m LOVING IT. Good bye heat wave!
Does anyone on the metroBlog SF actually live in SF or lived here more than a year. It seems like every post here is from a tourist that has never seen fog, cable cars, or tall buildings. Please get someone cool or at least interesting posting on this site. It could be really awesome…

Assuming that first sentence was in fact a question, then yes and yes. But I live in San Jose and go to San Francisco often. That’s my life and that’s what I write about.
And I am trying to not be offended by you implying that I am uncool and boring. I am happy to debate issues and such, but let’s not be mean here.
If there are aspects of San Francisco life that you’d like to see covered here, use the Suggest A Story link to the right.
Hey Michael,
You’re always welcome to apply to write for the site yourself - or are you too cool for that?
And for my money, if anyone ever stops appreciating fog or cable cars or tall buildings, he or she may as well move away because those things may be “stereotypical SF” but they are also what makes SF SF and not New York or Chicago or anywhere else.
And there is ample content here that deals with other topics. Whatever has got you so down, I hope it gets better.
and sheesh - what about this guy? he must be a total newbie or some lame visitor: http://sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2006/07/28/DDG7BIQ5401.DTL
oh wait, he’s a long-time chron columnist.
Yes- live in SF. yes- appreciate cable cars all the time. I know you were being rhetorical, but thought I’d take your question in the most positive vein as possible.
I didn’t wonder at fog and cable cars, though, when I lived in the Mission - for 7 years. Having moved to the “north side” (going on Year 2), that is, north of Market and north of Van Ness, Herb Caen’s “real” SF, my experience is far more in line with the touristy one. So I end up identifying more with visitors, frequently, than those folks who live in the districts. Funny, though, because I don’ tknow anyone who has lived their entire life in the northside. Anyone?
Michael- where do you live, and for how long?
I kind of hate the pissing contest of “how long have you lived here?” because hey, what makes this town great is that it was a boom town.
