I was awake and totally felt this in Hayes Valley. My bedframe wiggled twice in a row. The floorboards creaked and popped in a way I had never heard before. And my cat spooked into a frozen statue for a good 40 seconds. I kept waiting for a follow-up, but blissfully there wasn’t one. It definitely didn’t feel like the typical truck drive-by shaking.

It woke me up. I reported it here: http://earthquake.usgs.gov/eqcenter/recenteqsus/Maps/US10/32.42.-125.-115.php and if you go to: http://earthquake.usgs.gov/eqcenter/recenteqsus/ you can hunt around for earthquakes everywhere – can be fascinating if not totally geeky. :)
It seems that no one else in SF knows about this site so if you felt it, take a minute to report it.

many beers + late sake/sushi with friends last night + I’m an SF native = slept right through it! wups.

It woke me up as well – which is rare because anything below 5 usually don’t roust me. Plus, we live steps from the N Judah which regularly rumbles the room anyway.

Glad you blogged it though – I was going to roll over and reach for the computer but, feeling the after effects of the Diggnation party last night, just didn’t make it that far! Great to know I wasn’t crazy!

I was closest to the epicenter out of all of you and I slept right through it!

And I have to second the plug for http://earthquake.usgs.gov/eqcenter/recenteqsus/. I have wasted much time on that site.

Must have been one of those long period quakes because I usually sleep through them too. But this one woke me for the duration.
