Spilling out onto the steps…

Speaking of local eateries and the World Cup, strolling through North Beach this afternoon I came across several throngs of people crowded onto sidewalks outside packed restaurants. All gawking for a glimpse of the action from the big screen TVs. Not shocking since Italy was playing Ghana. I took this shot of the hubbub outside The Steps of Rome. Packed to the gills with an emotional crew. A cab driver even double-parked at one point and got out and watched for a bit. While I was there, Italy was up 1-0. Looks like they held the lead for a 2-0 victory. It’s not a bold statement to say that I’m sure the vast majority of North Beach residents were quite pleased with the outcome. (Sorry Ghana.)

Yep- people were pouring onto the sidewalk at 11am this morning too! Or, rather, running amok around the street.
