Permit-Approved Hypocrisy

Am I the only one picking up on the irony here? I guess the ‘world’s largest junk removal service’ isn’t ultimately required to do a spring clean-up of the junk they’ve actually created themselves. This is one of my enduring ‘city pet peeves’: that companies and politicians are granted permission to litter city street poles with numerous tacky mini-billboards. And then are allowed to do a dump and run. These groups are personally profiting from these postings, yet they are left to slowly disintegrate over subsequent (outdated) months. Creating eyesores throughout the city. And ultimately left for city workers to clean up the remnants. I just checked the city guidelines for this and it doesn’t look as if they pay even a nominal permit fee. (And yeah, Got Junk is in clear violation of 2 things by now. Unless that is plastic wrap and not tape.)
Removal required no more than 70 days after Posting Date. Elections and event related signs must be removed within 10 days of the event or election. No adhesive materials, no staples, nails, glue, tape (string or non-metal banding, plastic wrap okay)
Does the city ever chase these group down and issue fines? (They certainly do so to Average Citizen for auto-related violations.) And by the way: Lillian, you’ve got til Friday to rip all these down.
